In my experience libs are very good at compartimentalizing
My model of the sincere lib is the very nice lady I once spoke to who explained the only possible reason to oppose unlimited third-world immigration is rank bigotry, and two minutes later in the same conversation, noted en passant that she took her kids out of public school…
… and put them in private school because an influx of immigrants had lowered standards. When I pointed out very politely and mildly that middle class white people who cannot put their kids in private school might have a reasonable grievance there, she was utterly…
… surprised. Not shocked, not offended—she had just never put 2 and 2 together and it legitimately blew her mind. It was like she’d discovered Atlantis.
Of course, this is how almost all people handle hypocrisy, not by cackling evilly to themselves but by engaging in elaborate self-deception and making sure to never think too hard about some things.
And because the brain works like a muscle and because being a lib requires engaging in self-deception, lying to themselves and to others becomes second nature, to the point they no longer realize they’re doing it.
