80% of people experience imposter syndrome.
How to overcome it:
1) Recognize the signs.
To overcome imposter syndrome, you have to first know that you’re experiencing it.
Common signs:
- Hard to accept praise
- Feel like you got lucky
- Convinced you’re not enough
2) Know you’re not alone.
Imposter syndrome is common among successful people.
Know that even the highest achievers have felt the same as you.
3) Focus on your accomplishments.
Remember the things you’ve achieved to get here.
Create a swipe file of:
- Wins
- Awards
- Compliments
4) Stop being a perfectionist.
Chasing perfection will add to your imposter syndrome when something falls short.
Accept that you can’t be perfect.
5) Surround yourself with supportive people.
These people will help validate your success when you feel like you’re not enough.
6) Practice self-care.
Do things that increase your feelings of self-worth
Including:
- Exercise
- Gratitude Journal
- Take breaks
