I've been writing media criticism for years, and while I think this is more a "human" thing rather than an "American" thing, this Ukraine conflict has solidified my conclusion that a majority of Americans prefer comfortable lies over disturbing truths.

A lot of Americans seem to equate the US's military superiority and relative material prosperity with *moral superiority.* Most don't want to hear anything that challenges their belief in their moral superiority, so they want to scapegoat Putin/Russia for everything

The mainstream western propaganda narrative surrounding Ukraine/Russia is designed to totally remove all guilt/responsibility/culpability of Americans & other westerners for provoking this conflict and sabotaging peace. Many Americans believe this because it assuages their ego
