A family without a culture to sustain it is destined to fail
Here are 10 simple tips
1. Emblem, Color, Motto
Strongly neglected in the modern era, these 3 elements are key to giving a sense of unity.
An emblem gives your family something to unite behind.
A color something to represent your โ€˜teamโ€™.
A motto provides words to live by.
Careful selection of these will have a lasting impact on your family through the generations.
(DM me @dynastus if you want help with this)
2. Systems
We all know our days are numbered.
Systems have the advantage of being able to outlive us.
Establishing a Council, Family Bank, Family Balance Sheet and similar systems will ensure vital parts of your family as it grows will continue without you.
3. Stories
You may remember from your own childhood when a movie had a โ€˜profoundโ€™ impact on you.
Stories from critical pathways in children's brains that other experiences are built from.
The stories you tell will bolster (or cripple!) your family culture.
4. Entertainment
Ever notice how sitcoms have the father as a blundering buffoon?
These forms of entertainment have an impact on our psyche whether we want to believe it or not.
This is doubly so for your children, whose neuroplasticity is significantly higher
Select what entertainment you expose your family to, for it has a deep impact.
Opting to read a book together, play a board game or make-believe gives so much more opportunity to bond than the passive consumption of TV, films and other media.
5. Home
Home should be a safe, stable, peaceful environment - a refuge from the rigors of the world.
Being intentional in creating this environment, rich in memories and stories will go a long way to making your home a nexus for establishing a strong culture.
6. Treat your kids like the adults they will become.
Donโ€™t talk down to them. Donโ€™t rule with an iron fist.
Negotiate, sympathize, and understand.
Your kids are going through a lot.
Literally, a mind unfolding before your very eyes. Treat that experience with reverence.
Giving your children this level of respect builds confidence and competency into adulthood.
It has the added effect of improving language capacity, and maturity, while seeing that respect reflect back to you.
7. Projects & Hobbies
Family projects play a crucial role in promoting hard work and results, fostering connections, and facilitating learning opportunities.
Projects cover a wide array of possibilities; from building, gardening, renovations, business pursuits and more.
All have lessons and opportunities to bond and give a sense of pride and accomplishment over their contributions to the family.
Starting early will see your kid gain an appreciation for work, contributions and sharing the load with parents and siblings.
8. Traditions
Tradition is the foundation of family culture and is more common than most give credit.
Beyond the obvious handling of the festive seasons, the meals you eat, your daily routine, language, and how you spent downtime all fall under tradition as well.
Rites of passage are also critical traditions for the initiation of adults, especially boys into manhood.
These traditions must be carefully curated.
Documented and continued with each generation.
They are an irreplaceable part of all long-standing cultures.
9. PARENT
By making a study of parenting and surrounding subjects, a distinct advantage can be given to your children.
Things like minimal screen time, proper nutrition, peaceful parenting, and proper neurological development all play pivotal roles in child development.
The effort of your parenting will compound through the generations.
Study child psychology and neurology, parenting books (the non-woo-woo kind) and learn about traditional values and methods present throughout history, such as rites of passage.
10. Connect
Strengthening your relationship with your children is essential to establishing a multigenerational family.
A solid bond is built on a foundation of mutual respect and a harmonious home environment.
Early childhood experiences shape critical neural pathways, making it crucial to spend quality time with your kids.
Daycare sabotages critical bonding years, with separation from parents known to increase the production of cortisol, having lasting impacts on brain development.

2. Systems
3. Stories

5. Home
