Germany's unemployment rate in 1933 (when Hitler rose to power), was 34%.
Nigeria's official unemployment rate in 2022 (which is certainly understated) was 33%, but our official youth unemployment rate was 45%, and youth underemployment rate was 21%.
Most often, people outside Nigeria do not know how bad things inside Nigeria are.
If you look at a wide range of statistics (all trending downwards), you might understand why this election season is a lot different from others since 1999.
One mistake people who don't really understand Nigeria make; is overstating the importance of financial inducements in elections.
This is not to say they are not important (they are), but voter preference does matter.

Does a bad economy/horrendous unemployment rates put those who can bribe voters at an advantage? It depends.
(The Nigerian electorate is very dynamic, and we are at a turning point. I won't claim to know, because nobody fully understands the 2023 Nigerian voter).
