Here is a thread of simple reasons why I agree with Shadaya
1. There is value in being a virtuous woman. A woman who has practiced restraint and self-discipline deserves to be honored more than a woman who didn’t. When you do not accept this (that you failed at being virtuous) -
you become bitter and resentful with Shadaya. There is a reward for being virtuous. It is not an easy thing. The Bible even crowns the virtuous woman. This is a dominantly religious society, therefore they will judge you accordingly.
2. Submission is a very complicated concept, but one thing I’ve witnessed? When you actually love and respect a man, he doesn’t have to ask you to do these things - you just do it. And when a man loves and values you, you don’t have to ask him to protect or provide for you -
he just wants to. There are however rare instances where I’ve seen these gender roles reversed, and it works for them.
3. Masculinity and femininity are good concepts. The patriarchy is inherently a good concept. However, like all concepts, they can be abused. -
Abuse of these concepts is not evidence of their failure. Teach men to be better.
4. A man’s financial position does not discredit his knowledge.
My problem with Shadaya? He holds these standards highly for women and doesn’t do so for men.
If he was encouraging women to be virtuous the way he encourages men to be, it would be better. He is harsh towards women and friendly towards men. Anotsiura masimps with love, and bashes and condemns women for their mistakes. Besides that, he is right.
I am open to being told WHY I am wrong, but if you throw insults then I will not respond. Usapopote🙏🏾
