Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Here the apostle John encourages his disciples about the fear and danger posed by this deceiving spirit of the antichrist, as follows: The apostle is assuring his disciples that there is a holier principle in them. He said, "Ye are of God, little children," (v. 4), "We are of

God" (v. 6). We are born of God, taught by God, anointed by Him, and delivered from evil delusions. God is protecting His elect from fatal delusion. God grants them the hope of victory. "And have overcome them" (verse 4). With this, you have overcome these deceivers, they and

their temptations, and you still have the hope of continuing to testify. Here we can see that there are two grounds for the hope of victory. You have a strong guardian within you. "Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" (verse 4). The Spirit of God

dwells in you, and he has more power than men or devils. It is a great blessing that the Holy Spirit dwells in them.
