If You Feel Stuck in Life, Read This:
For those that are looking for major life changes, there is nothing worse than a lost opportunity.
It’s so easy to think back on chances that you could have taken that would have made a big difference in your life.
Don’t Wait for Opportunities to Miss - Create Them!
1. Self acceptance:
The initial step to being happy is to acknowledge yourself in all perspectives, physically, emotionally and mentally.
Know that failures contain the recipes for success — Learn from your mistakes, gather your ingredients, do your thing.
2. Ask for help:
If you are suffering from emotional distress, it’s okay to ask for help. If you think you are unable to manage your emotions, relationship with self and others, talk to an expert so they can help you sail through it.
Stay in touch with family and friends.
3. Manage stress:
Learn relaxation methods to cope with stress. These could include deep breathing, meditation, and exercise.
Protect your emotional well-being day with the Big Three:
- quality sleep
- lots of water
- slow & deep-breathing
4. Stay positive:
Focus on the good things in your life. Forgive yourself for making mistakes and forgive others. Spend time with healthy, positive people.
Worry less. Smile more.
5. Self-reflection:
Whenever sitting idle, reflect upon your feelings, emotions and introspect upon yourself and know what you feel and want.
Spend a few extra minutes in bed each morning to focus on the day ahead and all the opportunities that await.
6. Keep boundaries:
Once you have self introspected, try and set boundaries. Know what and how others react to certain circumstances. Hence, learn and keep distance, to protect your own space.
Talk less. You don’t need to explain yourself as much as you think you do.
7. Be aware of your emotions and reactions:
Notice what in your life makes you sad, frustrated, or angry. Try to address or change those things.
Give yourself frequent breaks when dealing with stressful events. Your emotional energy is scarce and finite.
8. Take care of your physical health:
Exercise regularly, eat healthy meals, and get enough sleep. Don’t abuse drugs or alcohol. Keep your physical health from affecting your emotional health.
9. Show gratitude:
Do something nice for a friend or a stranger.
Thank someone. Smile.
Volunteer your time.
Talk to the homeless man or woman at the park. Ask if s/he needs a bottle of water. The answer will probably be yes.
10. Never stop learning:
Try something new. Rediscover an old interest. Sign up for a course. Take on a different responsibility at work. Learn to play an instrument or how to cook your favorite food.
Leave drama where it belongs!
Think faster.
Keep moving. One of the hardest aspects of depression is fighting inertia. Even small steps make a difference.
Remember that happiness is a habit. You can rewire your emotional template each and every day.
You’re always going to miss opportunities if you wait for opportunities to occur. But you’ll never miss opportunities if you create them for yourself.
It may be time to change your mindset. Instead of waiting for opportunities, you should teach yourself to create them.
