"science-wash" is a great phrase, i gotta remember that. i get that some people really want for whatever reason to ground woo stuff in scientific materialism but ultimately woo stuff is grounded in *direct experience* (and so is everything else)
once upon a time i ran a session at a big rationalist thing called "introduction to chakras" where i said almost nothing about what chakras were or what anyone believed about them, just described a practice of imagining balls of energy in different parts of one's body
(which i stole from impro) and invited people to try it to see what happened. lots of different results, surges of emotion, shaking (i would not do this now without a lot more discussion of grounding and safety)
after the event i heard someone badmouthing it (who hadn't gone)

will probably need to get more mad about this thing in particular at some point, the way the "i fucking love science" construct relies on you distrusting your own experience ("N=1")
