one of the confusing things to me about, like, having-kids discourse is that the sides seem to be "everyone should have kids" vs. "fuck just leave people alone" instead of the obvious position: "people on my side of the culture war should have kids but not the other side"

like e.g. if you're moderately right of center shouldn't you be pretty happy about anti-having-kids memes spreading among leftists? or am i being too autistic here and missing the point

maybe everyone implicitly understands that if you look like you're trying to convince your ideological enemies to not have kids you 1) look like a villain and 2) maybe they will have kids to spite you idk
