ok, after many tests, I've managed to get my Additive Prompting structure working for interior design/architecture photography with 90%+ coherence to the prompt in Midjourney.
Examples & prompts in thread. Read them as you look at the images
🧵 Thread
It's all about breaking down the composition into components
Editorial Style Photo, Eye Level, Coastal Bathroom, Clawfoot Tub, Seashell, Wicker, Mosaic Tile, Blue and White, Serena & Lily, Natural Light, Beach House, Afternoon, Relaxing, Coastal, Beachy, Nautical, 4k --ar 16:9
Use simple descriptors. MJ is good at interpreting.
Editorial Style Photo, Low Angle, Industrial Home Office, Steel Shelves, Concrete, Metal, Edison Bulbs, Exposed Ductwork, CB2, Task Lighting, Dark and Moody, Warehouse, Afternoon, Productive, Industrial, Edgy, 4k --ar 16:9
Materials don't always need to be tied to an object. MJ figures it out
Editorial Style Photo, Angled View, Art Deco Dining Room, Marble Table, Velvet, Brass, Mirror, Intricate Tile Work, Chandelier, Jewel Tones, West Elm, Restaurant, Evening, Luxurious, Glamorous, 4k --ar 16:9
Notice the order of the variables remains consistent
Editorial Style Photo, Straight On, Traditional Foyer, Grand Staircase, Hardwood, Oriental Rug, Wainscoting, Carved Woodwork, Warm Tones, Ethan Allen, Natural Light, Mansion, Morning, Elegant, Historical, Classic 4k --ar 16:9
Include the Room Type, Focal Point, Textures, & Details
Editorial Style Photo, Eye-Level, Patio, Boho Rug, Woven, Macrame, Plants, Hanging Planters, Mixed Patterns, Jewel Tones, Urban Outfitters, String Lights, Apartment, Evening, Free-Spirited, Bohemian, 4k --ar 16:9
Add in a palette, a brand reference, and lighting
Editorial Style Photo, Symmetry, Straight On, Modern Living Room, Large Window, Leather, Glass, Metal, Wood Paneling, Neutral Palette, Ikea, Natural Light, Apartment, Afternoon, Serene, Contemporary, 4k --ar 16:9
Brand references like "Pottery Barn" help define style.
Editorial Style Photo, Eye Level, Rustic Farmhouse, Living Room, Stone Fireplace, Wood, Leather, Wool, Exposed Beams, Neutrals, Plaid, Pottery Barn, Natural Light, Cottage, Morning, Cozy, Traditional, 4k --ar 16:9
Add a few descriptors at the end, like "cozy" & "traditional"
Editorial Style Photo, Overhead Shot, Rustic Kitchen, Farmhouse Sink, Wood, Stone, Brick, Earth Tones, Rustic Accents, Copper Cookware, Pottery Barn, Pendant Lights, House, Morning, Cozy, Traditional, 4k --ar 16:9
Use specific design references like "Scandinavian Bedroom" to help define the look
Editorial Style Photo, Eye-Level, Scandinavian Bedroom, Platform Bed, Linen, Fur, Concrete, Gallery Wall, White and Grey, H&M Home, Moody Lighting, Loft, Calming, Minimalist, 4k --ar 16:9
Notice the consistency in the prompt structure
Editorial Style Photo, Straight On, Minimalist Foyer, Floating Staircase, Concrete, Glass, Metal, Minimalist Console, Neutral Palette, Design Within Reach, Recessed Lighting, Apartment, Morning, Clean, Contemporary, Modern, 4k
The order of the variables does matter.
Editorial Style Photo, Eye Level, Modern Living Room, Round Coffee Table, Record Player, Floor Lamp, Exposed Brick, Metal, Wood, Leather, Monochrome, West Elm, Urban Loft, Edgy, Industrial, Contemporary, 4k --ar 16:9
Some notes:
-It doesn't need to be an "Editorial Style Photo" but I find it helps.
-It's important to include at least 1 or 2 texture references like metal, linen, wood, etc
-Adding 1 or 2 general descriptors at the will help you define the look
More notes:
-Adding too many specific furniture items can sometimes confuse it. I try to limit myself to 3 max.
-Front-load the prompt with the camera angle. You'll get more consistent results that way.
-I find --ar 16:9 to be very useful. I usually get cleaner images w/ it
Last note:
-The images aren't picture-perfect. They can be a bit blurry at times. Sometimes a light upscale redo helps. You can also try deblurring in another tool.
Feel free to remix these & reply with your favorites.
I'm working on a series digging into my Additive Prompting Framework. Full course will be up soon on yoututbe (link in bio).
Have fun
I'm pretty close to having landscape photography working with the same level of consistency.
What else should I try? Feed me ideas, I'm hungry.
In case you've gotten this far, I also have a similar tutorial on how to create consistent characters in Midjourney if you wanna check it out 👇
Walked by Pottery Barn Kids this morning
