Today I learned this interesting interviewing process that’s used by big companies and I thought I would share so that someone else would benefit. So in terms of your behaviour, they’ll ask questions and there is a certain procedure they use to rate you.
It’s called STAR. They’ll rate you 1-5 or something, according to how well you answer each question and stay within the above mentioned method.

For example,
The interviewer can ask: Give me an example of a time you had to deal with a difficult situation and how you used your skills to solve the issue.

Don’t be robotic in your answer, but as much as possible, try to remember STAR. Describe the difficult Situation. What task were you required to complete? What Action did you take? What was the result? Try to make yourself come out as triumphant. In my case…
I described a situation where a guest in the resort where I worked came to the reception and started shouting that the pool attendant was shouting at her kids. This was the situation. My task was to calm her down and help her see reason. The Action I took was
Describing to her that the pool attendants have a role to keep the children safe and when they see children running by the pool they had to ask them to stop. I apologised for the manner in which the issue was handled and promised to have a word with the pool attendant.
The result was that the guest was still not happy and she promised to tarnish our name on Twitter, but as I had followed the procedure, I was happy to close off the question that not every matter ends up the way we want it to. 😊
The interviewer then rates you 1-5 depending on how you answer and how you come across. The tally will show how you rank among others. I hope you’ve learned something today, using the STAR method to answer behavioural questions in an interview. Let me know your thoughts 🤗💯
