I'm going to cop some flak for this but f*ck it, a thread.
People are reading some weird takes into Punjab, Sikhs, Hindus & kinetic solutions to the problem.
Gill showed that the power of the Ks came not from their martial prowess but from their ability to intimidate.

The reason his approach worked is not because on the one hand he turned Punjab into a warzone but because he degraded networks, took every opportunity to humiliate their image & went after their loved ones, 'allegedly'.
The other hand is what few talk about.

He showed through sheer violence what happens when you stand against the Indian State while protecting to the hilt people involved in the dirty business that didn't make the papers.
People who fought for the Indian side were safe & even made a pretty penny on the side.

It's well known that he would incentivize his own force through promotions but what many on the pro Indian side don't talk about, for rather obvious reasons, is the characters he used to do a lot of the underhanded stuff.
Retribution was also carried out by the non uniformed.

You see this a little later, I believe post retirement, where he expresses the need to continue supporting the Ikhwan in Kashmir even after some of their excesses hit the papers.
This side of the insurgency is hush-hushed in white papers but it did play a major role.

By getting relatives of people the Ks had wronged alongside those who flipped for their own reasons, he had in effect let loose an army with little in the way of rules to weed out & clean up undesirable elements in ways we cannot discuss on this bird app.
Now why was this exposition necessary? To show you two important points.
1. It was Sikhs who did the dirty biz, alongside Hindus, against K terrorists.
2. Ks instantly lose power when the State decides to 'protect' the people who work for it.

Look at the aftermath of the anti Sikh riots Vs Gill's policies.
>The K problem grew instead of wavering in the aftermath of the riots.
>The K problem was driven abroad & went comatose in Punjab within years of Gill's policies. The INC even won the 92 elections.

Contrary to what a lot of people say on SM, we know from the Indian experience of dealing with insurgency that if you can promise peace, stability & security people will back you even if it means doing unpleasant things.
Especially if your opponents are barbaric.

The reason we don't see a lot of Sikhs openly against the rising problem is
1. Our own bias. There are quite a few of them & they do so even after being threatened.
2. Many are afraid because the State is backing down instead of standing up to the problem.

I do not for one moment mean to play down the problems some Hindus have raised (referring to the caste slurs & threats).
I'm simply pointing out that there are Sikhs who don't like what's happening & need State backing to become bolder.

Look at UP. Prior to the Yogi Adityanath dispensation, people would speak of religious strife in hush hush tones so as not to induce "provocation"
Today, they'll stand in the middle of the road & talk to YT Channels about "bulldozer baba" going after the same elements.

I've seen this confidence rise first hands in my travels to the state. Why? Because the people see the state go after, quite viciously, after anybody who tries religious funny business.
Cops in the state are legitimately twice as terrifying.
Why? Maharaji backs them 100%

This is why I sound like a full blown Yogi Adityanath simp from Purvanchal when people make wisecracks about UP.
I have seen the place actually improve in real time.
All because a CM protects his 'boys' in Khaki. F*ck around & your grandkids will remember the name Yogi.

This is getting long so let me end it.
Pro Indian Sikhs at home & abroad, much like Hindus in pre Yogi UP, are going through a phase where they are unsure if they can protect themselves & their kids by speaking up.
The State *MUST* deliver them the Gill/Yogi backing.
END.
