I read this book. It's incredibly accurate and a must-read for neets and people working primarily from home.
I'll give a short summary, but I highly recommend reading it if you haven't. The book revolves around how modern jobs are completely unnecessary and have no real social or economic value but are created and sustained by bureaucracy and corporate culture.
Although the book is great, I disagree with one key aspect: Graeber argues that bullshit jobs are harmful not only to the individuals who hold them but to society as a whole because they waste resources and distract from more meaningful and productive work.
The way to look at bullshit jobs is basically another version of universal basic income. Everyone knows these jobs are BS, but the government needs employment numbers to look good, and people need to make money to CONSUUUME to keep the scam economy going.
You want a job that makes you a grey man. You don't stick out, you aren't part of some critical infrastructure, you look important, but no one really knows what you do, etc. There are TONS of these around. You need to look for them in the right places.
IMO the best place is @LinkedIn. Make an account, add as many people as possible in the field you want, and add some fake experience (if they ask for details, say you are under NDA but still give them nuggets of information), and have your friends act as references.
In the span of 10 minutes, I was literally able to find a ton of these bullshit jobs. I have highlighted the key things you should seek in these posts.
When you see the words "inspire, shape, research, lead, model, guide," etc., this is a big hint the job is bullshit. In reality, you will probably be some middle manager making sure all the wagies are doing whatever whilst you put together reports, exactly 0 people will read.
The most important thing, however, is supreme confidence. Most people these days are weak and scared. No one will question you just by sounding confident in your decision-making and knowledge base. You must be a good little ant that blends in with the colony.
An important thing is becoming friends with the higher-ups. I cannot state this enough, nepotism is one of the most powerful tools in the modern wagie world. Use every tool God gave you to get ahead. If you are a person of color, disabled, part of some elite race, whatever.
The book also covers how many of these types of jobs (which you want) are born out of nepotism. Meaning higher ups either like a person enough to create a BS job for them or think they need them in the company, so they keep giving them BS promotions.
However, as the book points out, the only downside to this is that you don't learn any skills. So make sure you use this time as a working neet to keep learning new skills to worm your way into more 6-fig middle management jobs that basically pay you to be a neet.
I also highly recommend this thread by my friend @NEETOCRACY. Great tips on how to maneuver in the realm of bullshit jobs.
Im summary, look for:
1. Buzzwords, avoid jobs that include technical language that will require actual work
2. Nepotism is your best friend
3. Be confident but also don't stand out. Don't let people step on you but don't make too much noise.
4. Exaggerate your talents
