AN OPEN LETTER TO RIGHT WING TRADS:
Dear TRADS,
It's been a week since the Isha Mahashivratri celebrations concluded, but your incessant trolling is yet to stop. I’ve been racking my brains over the last few days, trying to understand why you are upset.
1/29 #Mahashivratri2023
Shouldn’t you be happy with the fact that Mahashivratri is now
watched by over 20 million people year after year?

Since you are Hindu right wing, I would assume that you’d like to see the ancient Hindu way of living being
practised by more and more people.

If so, shouldn’t you be happy that millions of people who were previously ignorant about the importance of staying awake on that night, are now doing so because of the celebrations at Isha? Oh, by the way, that includes me!

I stayed awake for the second straight year in my life on Mahashuvratri due to Isha and Sadhguru. I never knew the importance of this night two years ago. Let me ask you again! What exactly are you upset about?

I heard that some of you are upset about this quote of Sadhguru which you have taken completely out of context. You are furious that Sadhguru is “taking away Mahashivratri from Hinduism" by saying that Mahashivratri is not limited to a particular religion.

He is saying that one who stays awake during Mahashivratri can benefit from the energies if he/she is receptive enough, regardless of their religion or caste. He didn't say that this is not a Hindu festival. Please see this tweet, where he calls it the "great night of Shiva"
7/29
You also know that almost every Hindu festival has something to do with planetary positions, don’t you? If Mahashivratri is a planetary phenomenon, do you think that staying awake with an erect spine will benefit only Hindus?
8/29
The important thing was to stay awake. Shouldn’t you be celebrating the fact that more and more people are now celebrating Mahashivratri?
9/29
Some of you are also annoyed that Sadhguru moved his feet, to devotional music that night. You are upset that Mahashivratri has now been “reduced to a party night”. You are upset about all the dance and music! Why?
10/29
Do you know that Carnatic music and dance forms originated in temples and were created primarily as a means to assist a person in his spiritual journey? The combination of music, dance and devotion has always been a part of festivities on this land.
11/29
Isha Mahashivratri celebration was a combination of Indian traditional and fusion musical and dance performances as well as guided meditative sessions. If you go to any Shiva temple in Kerala, you will see musical and dance performances on Mahashivratri night.
12/29
Why are you upset only with the dance and music at Isha Mahashivratri celebrations? I bet that those of you who are trolling him for this, have seen nothing else but the dancing clip of Sadhguru from that evening.

Do you know that there were meditative sessions led by Sadhguru himself? Do you know that in one such session, millions of us were chanting “Shambho” and "Aum Namah Shivaya" in another session. I bet you have no clue. I'm sure you were sleeping, weren't you?
14/29
Oh by the way, your friends from the #left have also been trolling and abusing Sadhguru. They have their own agenda in doing that, and I am not surprised. But you are the right wing! You claim to be the voice of the indigenous culture of this land!

How can you join the left who only wants to weaken anything that is Hindu? How could you abuse and troll a Guru who has taken Hindu spiritualiy to millions around the world?

How could you troll a Guru who has done more for Sanatan Dharma than anyone else in recent history, awakening millions of Hindus like me who were sleeping and brought them to the path of spirituality.

Some of you also argue that Sadhguru and Isha are distorting Hindu faith and practices, that “Isha Hinduism” is “not the real Hinduism”. You believe that going to the temple and giving your demand to the deity is “real Hinduism”? It's fine, if that works for you!
18/29
Please understand that Hinduism is not a homogenous religion or culture like the Abrahamic religions. We have not one, but several scriptures. We are free to follow any scripture that appeals to our inner self or not follow a scripture at all.

In Hinduism, there are four main paths that lead one to moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death. These paths are:
20/29
Jnana Yoga: This path is the path of knowledge and wisdom, and involves the pursuit of knowledge of the self and the true nature of reality. It emphasizes the study of scriptures like Vedas and Upanishads, and aims to achieve an understanding of the oneness of all things.
21/29
Bhakti Yoga: This path is the path of devotion, and involves the cultivation of devotion and love for the Divine. It emphasizes the practice of prayer, worship, and service to others as a means of connecting with the Divine and achieving union with it.
22/29
Karma Yoga: This path is the path of action and selfless service, and involves performing actions without attachment to the fruits of those actions. It emphasizes the importance of performing one's duty in a selfless manner, without seeking personal gain or reward.
23/29
Kriya Yoga: Kriya Yoga is a spiritual path that aims to help practitioners attain a direct experience of the Divine through a series of practices, including physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.
24/29
Practice of Kriya Yoga involves specific techniques for regulating Prana, which are designed to calm the mind and open the energy channels of the body. This helps to awaken the dormant spiritual energy, or kundalini, which is coiled at the base of the spine.
25/29
Through regular practice, practitioners can experience a deeper sense of inner peace, greater awareness of the Divine, and increased spiritual growth and insight. Overall, these paths are not mutually exclusive.
26/29
Many practitioners incorporate elements of each path into their spiritual practice. The ultimate goal of all of these paths is to achieve moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death, and to realize the true nature of the self and the Divine.
27/29
Sadhguru gives a lot of emphasis to Kriya yoga and Bhakthi yoga. He places great deal of importance on experientially touching the divine. If you don’t like it, that’s your call. If you want to study the scriptures, you are free to follow the path of Jnana yoga.
28/29
But calling the other paths as "fake/distorted" and abusing a Guru who is revered by millions of people of all faiths around the world just displays your insecurity, high level of ignorance, and arrogance in several cases. Please correct yourself, before it is too late!
