Dedicated only to the one cause of freedom of Bharat and Hindutva, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar subsumed his life in making sure that every aspect of Hindu life is infused with this idea of freedom.

Right from his childhood, from reading Mahabharat and Ramayana, exploring history of ancient Bharat, Savarkar gained knowledge that filled him with the vigour and valour of being a leader.

He founded a small group called Mitra Mela at an early teenage, in which his friends and brothers were actively involved.

Savarkar inspired his teenage and even elder participants with the words of wisdom. The important members of the Mitra Mela were Mahaskar, Khade brothers, Ghanshyam Chiplunkar, Devsingh Pardesi, etc.

When he reached the Fergusson College, formation of Abhinav Bharat paved way for his later revolutionary activities. He became the first person to setup a bonfire of foreign goods and supported Swadeshi. His erudition and vision became inspiration for people around him.

Veer Savarkar was an inspiration for Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru and all the revolutionaries respected him to the core. Savarkar's book Hindu Pad Padshahi was an essential read for the revolutionaries of 'Hindustan Socialist Republican Association'.

In his Jail Notebook Bhagat Singh records a passage on 'resistance to forced conversion' inspired by Savarkar.

The great revolutionary Rash Behari Bose communicated with Savarkar during the beginning of Second World War. When INA was headed and reformed under Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, all the policies and vision of INA coincided and were inspired from the ideals of Savarkar.

Veer Savarkar was no ordinary man, he was a visionary, a futuristic leader, and a man who never compromised on his Dharmic values.

Despite him being hounded for being a nationalist Hindu, he never backed out and contributed a great deal for India's independence struggle. The nation pays obeisance to him today.
