if you feel even remotely bad about this, don't. Heres why ๐งต
a good friend of mines family is from El Salvador. He told us about a practice that occurred where MS13 decided only women dating the gang could have blonde hair in the entire country. gang members would enter busses, if they saw a woman with blonde hair and not affiliated withโฆ
narcotrafficking can only occur with the consent of corrupt government officials, when the state wants to do something it can. Bukele is showing that to the world, and that has people scared
now I don't want to dehumanize every ms13 member, many were simply born into that life at a young age, and had to join the gang to survive. Remember everyone is a human being, Its sad shit. But this is the only option.
I haven't heard a single El Salvadorian say a negative word about Bukele. To my el Salvadorian followers, id love to hear your thoughts, because I could certainly be wrong
I know I bring literally everything back to the Papacy when making my points so I apologize in advance, but I just want to impress how insanely impressive what bukele has done is. My particular focus is the 16th century papacy. some of the most remembered
judicial reformers of this period, those popes remembered for having cleaned up the banditry, did no such thing. Sixtus V for example was known for his pontificates hardline approach toward crime, but recent scholarship shows he completely failed at meaningful reform
they just had good propagandists. And so for someone to make a real material difference in crime rates, is extremely impressive. Take St Pius V for example, and how he laughably failed in cleaning up crime
One of the most intense moral reformers of the age, he instituted rigid moral policies with harsh consequences. And so ONE THIRD of all romans left the city limits during his pontificate, only to return after his death lol.
but, on the other hand, it could be that this is all just government propaganda on Bukeles part. Why don't I think this? due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from el Salvadorians on what Bukele has done. That and the fact NGOs are going so hard against him
if I were you id start investing in El Salvador, very excited for what the future brings to the country
on the other hand...
also, and I apologize for not making this obvious because I thought it was beyond the scope of the thread, but the USA government is 100 percent complicit and should shoulder much of the blame for the narco plague in LatAm
