In a war with the USA, this transportation network means China can still be fully supplied by land.

In wartime, cost consideration is secondary.
China will simply turn to the aforementioned land routes for supplies.

So Chinese people won't be deprived of most goods... even in wartime.

Can you imagine the U.S. Navy preventing critical Chinese goods from arriving in Brazil, Iran, South Africa and many other countries?
