โ€œAnd he called unto him the twelve,โ€; The 12 disciples have received all the training they need to convey and how they will be treated. Now is the time to practice teaching. Until now, Jesus was able to do many things while walking around directly. Sending out his six groups of
disciples multiplied his efforts geographically. Jesus gave his disciples the authority and responsibility to act as his representatives in both teaching and power. This is in line with the Jewish concept of shaliach, which means to regard someone's agent as that person's
presence. The Jews would have understood the teachings and ministries of these disciples as the same as Jesus himself came to them. This was why they were chosen. (Mark 3:14-15, โ€œAnd he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
And to have the power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:โ€) Jesus sent them out two by two is also in line with the requirement for two witnesses, common in Judaism (Deuteronomy 17:6, โ€œAt the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses). , shall he that is worthy of death
be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.โ€. The parallel passage, Matthew 10:1ff. In, a more supplementary explanation is added to this expression. Jesus had already chosen the 12 disciples in 3:14. But now he intends to send them to fulfill
the original purpose for which they were chosen (3:14, 15). The sending of the 12 disciples shows that โ‘  Jesus' missionary activity was becoming more organized and changed, and โ‘ก that the field of activity was expanding and prolonging. Therefore, it can be seen that Jesus'
missionary activity faces a new phase from the text below.
โ€œand he began to send them forth by two and two;โ€; This is the first time Jesus has sent out the people he trained intelligently. On the other hand, when 70 people were called and sent out in Luke 10:1, the reason why
they were sent out two by two seems to be because of the Jewish custom (11:1; 14:13; Acts 13:2,4;16:40). In other words, this is based on the custom of appointing two or three witnesses as shown in Deuteronomy 17:6, and it seems that Jesus also followed this custom when sending
out his disciples as witnesses for the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom. With this, the disciples spread out in six directions throughout Galilee and strive for the expansion of the kingdom of heaven. However, the meaning of "officially representing the sender" is implied
in the word "sent" (apostelein) here, implying that Jesus sent his disciples after giving them his authority. Therefore, as the sent ones, the disciples had to spread only His holy will in each region by the authority of Jesus.
โ€œand gave them power over unclean spirits;โ€; It is
rather surprising that only exorcism, exorcism, is mentioned as their task. Whereas Matthew includes the power to heal sickness and infirmity (Matthew 10:1), Mark only mentions authority over unclean spirits. In his own Gospel, Mark focuses on the disciples' ability to overcome
the demonic reign, in line with the ongoing cosmic battle between God and Satan. Mark refers to the fact that he reports that the disciples returned and cast out demons and healed the sick (6:13). This authority and power proved the authenticity of their message. Jesus gave the
power to his disciples, but they did not get it for themselves. This verse is the ministry given to the disciples who send out. A parallel text, Luke 9:1 (โ€œThen he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.โ€)
adds healing powers. However, there is no specific reference to dispatch in the text. However, judging from the contents of verses 12 and 13, it can be inferred that the ability to control unclean spirits was given to spread the gospel and heal diseases. Indeed, in the place
where the power of Satan is conquered, the gospel of the Lord grows to overflow with vitality, all unclean and destructive things are destroyed, and the kingdom of God is newly established. Jesus shows amazing authority here. Not only does Jesus have amazing powers to preach,
heal, and cast out demons, but He can also pass that authority on to others. It is more than just delegating. Jesus is giving His authority.
