1. Yes, it’s incorrect to use “gurukkal” as was done in the letter, as it’s traditionally used only for Ādiśaiva Brāhmaṇas who have done Ācārya-Abhiṣekam. But lay Hindus also use “iyer” wrongly for gurukkaL. You’re trying to make this an issue for your own casteist complexes.
2. Poor take. I myself believe that Siddhāntāgama is supreme choice for Śivālayas but not all will subscribe to Siddhānta. Kāmikāgama gives a list of suboptimal non-Siddhāntāgama traditions, in accordance with which deities are installed. You are free to choose suboptimally.
Different because it is one thing for secular authorities to appoint non-Ādiśaivas at temples which are consecrated & are functioning in accordance with Siddhānta-Āgamas & quite another for non-Siddhānta-Śaivas to have temples functioning in line with a different ritual system.
Ādiśaiva Brāhmaṇas are a very small community, which needs to be close with the rest of the Vaidika community so that it can continue to receive both Veda & Āgama education in a ritually & spiritually conducive environment & keep producing better Arcakas.
