For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Romans 14:9 [KJV]
"For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived,"; This word, as a confirmation of the previous verse, says that Christ died to become Lord of the dead and rose again to become Lord of the living. At the outset, the words 'for this' (ace tuto) explain what is meant by
the purpose of Christ's redemption. The fact that Jesus himself died and rose again to be Lord of the living and the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; 2 Corinthians 5:15) is the sovereignty over all things in the universe and the sovereignty of all life for believers. It serves as a
basis for claiming to be reborn. On the other hand, the Greek word 'Kai Ejesen', translated as 'revived,' means 'he was resurrected' and refers to the historical fact that he rose from the dead. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus Christ proves His divinity, Jesus as the
Savior, and His sovereignty over all things. Also, it implies that a new life has been prepared for the Lord and that His sovereignty and power over His saints are eternal. In other words, for him to become the universal ruler, the Lord of hosts (Acts 10:36), that is, the
master of all living and non-living things. He is the head of all things for the church. He is the Lord of those who live to rule over all things, and also of those who die to accept and raise them again. This is the "name that is above every name" (Philippians 2:8, 9) given to
him by God at the cost of his humiliation. He also said, β€œAll authority has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18) after he died and rose again, and with this power, he entrusts his disciples to evangelize all over the world (vv. 19, 20). If Christ paid such a high price for
dominion over souls and consciences, and if we exercise a just and indisputable right to exercise this dominion, we will judge the consciences of our brethren, so that we do not violate that dominion. there should be no When we want to disgrace the names and memories of those
who have died, we must remember that Christ is both Lord of the living and Lord of the dead. If they're already dead, they're done counting, and that's enough. Here we find another reason not to judge and not to despise.
