VDR says that I'm lying about not needing to reform Social Security/Medicare. I never say that. I don't include such proposals bc they will a) detract from the more immediate goal of defunding the weaponized admin state & b) lead to a failure to cut any spending at all 2/9
It's true. I would not put SS&M anywhere near the list of immediate threats facing the country. VDR could waive a magic wand today & enact her nirvana SS reform & tomorrow the same admin & security state would be working against half the country not on board with the regime. 3/9
"Rosy assumptions" bc it assumes 2.8% growth? Its a post-policy document that assumes enactment of certain policies. So its rosy to assume growth which we had during Trump but not to assume trillions in SS&M savings where there has been no reform since 1983 (tax hike)&1997? 4/9
VDR says "woke & weaponized" is the new waste fraud & abuse, not adding up too much. This misstates my theory of the case. I don't view these as line items but the very DNA of these agencies that require large cuts. 30% cut to ED and HHS, for example. That's not real $? 5/9
But if you think its ok for the NIH to fund a lab in Wuhan (on its own) to do gain of function research on coronaviruses that then leak out & cause untold global damage & cost trillions of $ in response, then yes we disagree on some basics. 6/9
Ultimately, the most important basic area of disagreement is that we acknowledge political reality & if we want to achieve our interests (less spending) it has to be cognizant of keeping together an army most interested in less spending. 7/9
The Left wants to protect a regime weaponized against their enemies & keep the dollars flowing. That is a fact & no amount of think tank pieces will change that. So if you are going to win (actual results), you need your own army to be excited about what you are proposing. 8/9
Statesmanship is in order. We need leaders to recognize the most important threats to the country, find leverage points for change, and secure victories. Results. Not cheap talk from Con Inc think tanks and outlets uncomfortable bc they have made peace with the regime. 9/9
