idk if this helps for anyone to hear but in case anyone was wondering i've studied quantum mechanics and a bit of quantum field theory and i don't feel like it helped me understand the nature of reality in the slightest. i think nothing past E&M is phenomenologically accessible
it's a weird situation we're in, and historically unusual, that our """best""" physical theories are have absolutely 0% contact with phenomenology unless you're a very specific kind of physicist. if there was any justice in the world learning QM would give you superpowers
meanwhile electromagnetism is an extremely obvious force in the world around us and almost nobody talks about it phenomenologically except the small handful of hippies who talk about EMF sensitivity. what a bizarre situation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
shoutouts to this real ass tweet though which actually inspired me to learn a bit more about signal processing for a day
physicists talk about this thing called the electromagnetic field which literally pervades all of spacetime, meanwhile spiritual / magic people talk about the astral plane / realm / field and like... really makes you think 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐
would actually recommend learning a bit of statistical mechanics though if you want to understand why you *don't* have to understand particle physics to understand how the world works. david tong's lecture notes are good as hell
