10 months ago, I made my first dollar online.
A creator business is awesome. But the number of options to make money can be overwhelming.
Here’re the 7 models I’ve tried (plus my opinions and total revenue from each):
The models I've tried:
· Affiliating
· Community
· Ghostwriting
· Digital products
· Group coaching
· Newsletter sponsors
· 1-1 coaching and consulting
There're pros and cons to them all. Let's dive into each:
(figures not including this feb)
Affiliating: $940.92
Affiliating is an awesome way to set up wins for your audience, you, and other brands.
Find products you love (note: not just what you think will sell), and plug them with your content.
Often recurrent revenue.
No fulfillment required.
Everyone wins.
Community: $609
I thought comm would be a great side hustle. I was wrong. You can’t side hustle people. Not if you care. They deserve full attention.
And that means you:
1. Charge a premium
2. Set clear constraints
Huge upfront energy cost. Make sure you're ready (I wasn't).
1-1 coaching and consulting: $31,006
A great way to build a deep understanding of your target audience.
Plus, you get to test your systems before you productize (meaning you’ll build a MUCH better product).
1-1 work isn't leveraged. But it is valuable & flexible.
Ghostwriting: $1,000
I don’t like a business based on deadlines and algorithm changes.
BUT:
Getting paid to learn to write is smart. And profitable. Make sure you either:
1. Scale into an agency fast
2. Build your brand & productize
Don’t get stuck in 1-1 work.
Group Coaching: $18,000
Exciting, impactful, and lucrative.
It’s also intense.
Round 1 is tough because you sell, then build. Round 2 is easier because you’ve got your resources ready. I did 90 days for 6 people at 3k a head.
Great way to build your business.
Digital products: $34,841
If you want to disconnect time from money, productizing your knowledge is awesome. I make $2-3k per month on average with just a notion database. It gets higher each month with volume.
Build an MVP then scale it out.

Newsletter Sponsors $3,300
Attention is an asset. If you build an engaging newsletter, you can write about what you love and earn each time, guaranteed. Find creators and businesses in your niche and form partnerships.
A great win-win (and highly profitable with scale).
Final note:
My biggest mistake was trying to do too much. This kills momentum. And you can't build an excellent business if you're spread too thin.
Here’s what I’d do if I had to start again:
A great way to build a creator business:
1. Build a small and simple offer (like a 4 call package)
2. Iterate into a high ticket, value based offer
3. Productize knowledge into low ticket
4. Use content to drive traffic
5. Put in the reps
Start small, scale fast.

I'm documenting my journey as a creator and sharing what I learn along the way. Drop me a follow if you enjoyed this @itskierandrew.
& please drop a quick comment (a 👍will do!) so other people might see it too.
Much appreciated.
