If you overthink, read this:
Right now as you read this, take a breather.
Don't worry about where you are, just take a deep breathe.
Done?
Let's continue.
99% of the harm is caused by making the problem bigger than what it is.
If it is not life or death, take a step back and have a think about the stressor.
Yes this is a thread about overthinking and I know I am telling you to think.
But follow me.
Have you asked yourself whether the thing you're stressing about is in your control?
You can't control everything!
Try controlling the weather, or I have a real challenge for you; next time you're in traffic, see if you can make it move.
It's impossible to control anything external.
You can only control your reactions.
So learn to let go!
Overthinking leads to you freezing.
Stopped in your tracks unable to move forward.
This turns into procrastination unfortunately.
Procrastination is the silent killer of dreams.
We need to combat it and there are a few ways how to do so.
Find a distraction.
Stop overthinking by engaging in an enjoyable activity.
This will look different for everyone but you know what you like.
Better yet, try something new!
Write it down!
Journaling is a great way to get your thoughts out of your head.
No journal available, grab a sheet of paper, use your phone's notes app; just get it down!
The key is getting out of your own head.
Meditate.
Did the deep breathe I asked you to complete earlier help?
Well if so, practice meditation or find time to take a few deep breathes throughout the day.
Most importantly you need to remember :
There is no changing the past, and there is no changing the future.
Life is too short to be unhappy!
Begin with some of the steps above and hopefully your mind becomes clearer.
Thank you for reading!
