The first capital of Nigeria, "Lagos" consist of Lagos Island, Marina, Ebute meta, Yaba, ikoyi, surulere, Apapa. Other part of Lagos State was carved out of the Old Western Region, these people share direct Ancestry with people currently living in Ogun State. Places like:
badagry, epe, Ikeja, Alimosho, Agege etc. For Example, Alimosho is a major Awori and Egbado settlement - They share direct Ancestry with people living in Ogun State, that is why you will often find people from igbesa in ogun state who are also indigenous to Igando in Lagos State
Infact! The Planning and Development of most part of Lagos State today was carried out by the western region gov. In 1956, the Western region established Ikeja Area Planning Authority (IAPA). Which focused on Ikeja, Mushin, Isolo, Agege and many other places in Lagos State.
The indigenous people on this bigger place of Lagos State are the Awori, Egun, Ilaje, ijebu, Egba, Egbado now Yewa and many other Yoruba groups.

On 28 of February 1906, Old Lagos Colony "Yorubaland" was amalgamated with the rest of what was called Southern Nigeria, the old Lagos Colony became the Western Province with Capital in Lagos "Not Lagos State" and
the former Southern Nigerian Protectorate was split into a Central Province with capital at Warri and an Eastern Province with capital at Calabar. This is what people mistake as the first capital of Nigeria.
After the Amalgamation of Southern and Northern protectorate in 1914, Lord Lugard made Lagos "Not Lagos State" the Capital of Nigeria
