there's a sort of unusual skill that i think you maybe need to really thrive on twitter which is something like the ability to both send and receive detailed vibes through text. probably developed by chatting online a lot as a kid? (for me it was MSN messenger + forums)
sometimes i've tried to encourage a really cool person i know who definitely has cool things to say to tweet more and something doesn't quite work out about it, they never sync to sort of the specific way you need to pitch tweets for them to be picked up and circulate
and i think if i had to guess (haven't verified this) in every case it was someone who didn't grow up on the internet in the same way i and i think a lot of other poasters did. unsure if this is something you can learn in adulthood; probably? seems tricky tho
this is why lowercase is so important (to me, anyway). if you chatted online a lot as a kid writing in lowercase specifically activates that context instead of, say, school or professional writing which i think is really key
โplaintext literacyโ! (more in thread)
the wackiest application of vibing through text that i'm aware of is when you start flirting with someone else who can also do it. hard to be certain but i think i've meaningfully synced up somatically with people who were thousands of miles away in the DMs. weird weird stuff
nice
