How to build a system to beat procrastination and overwhelm:
1) Get Organised
Start by writing down everything on your mind and check everything under your control:
- ToDos
- Projects
- Calendar
- Messages
- Physical inbox
- Goal and vision alignment
Now your mind is clear for the next step:
2) Connect With Your Purpose
Make the link between your tasks and your bigger mission.
What’s your purpose in life? Who do you want to be?
Clarifying this will destroy the urge to procrastinate.
3) Set Goals
You know your purpose, now identify the goals to get you there.
Break those goals down into smaller manageable tasks.
You won’t know how to start when a task is too big.
Break out the smallest next step.
Recheck your list, do all the to-dos you captured align with your goals and mission?
If not, can you delete them or delegate them?
Next, prioritise your new list:
4) Prioritise
Time-sensitive items first.
Next, rank for impact and value.
Want to be fitter β†’ Schedule your workouts
Want a promotion β†’ Time block for Deep Work
Want better relationships β†’ Plan time for your family & friends
5) Plan Out Your Calendar
Plan your calendar to reflect your priorities.
Don’t crank up on one burner unless you’re happy to turn the other ones off.
Spending time with your family and friends nourishes you.
Keeping fit ensures you can enjoy life.
Don’t neglect it.
6) Execute
The hardest part to tackle overwhelm is to make time to organise yourself.
So make it easy for yourself, follow the steps above and create clarity.
Connect your actions with your purpose and go execute.
7) Let Go Of The Past
So you feel overwhelmed and struggle with procrastination?
We all do.
Forgive yourself and build the life you deserve.
The 7-step system to feel in control and beat procrastination:
Connect With Your Purpose
Plan Out Your Calendar
Let Go Of The Past
Get Organised
Set Goals
Prioritise
Execute
And forgive yourself for missed opportunities. The Now is all that matters, so make it count.
That's a wrap!
