Young men take heartbreak too seriously.
I can't tell you how many guys I've seen get RUINED by girls.
Anything from a brutal rejection to getting cheated on by their high school sweethearts.
Guys get invested too quickly, too easily, get crushed, and never fully recover.

Guys will spend their prime years, filled with energy and opportunity...
...wallowing in self-pity over a ditsy teenage bimbo.
Throwing their entire lives away before it's even began.
It's crazy how such an insignificant event can completely throw off a man's life trajectory.

I've been there.
When you're in your late teens/early 20s..
A heartbreak can truly feel like the end of the world.
Blinded by lack of experience and perspective, you feel like she was "the one".
Understand that 2 years from now you'll be looking back at this laughing.

You should thank your lucky stars you didn't get stuck with her.
You were both young and dumb.
You thought you were "perfect for each other", not realizing you were blinded by puppy love.
She was not your soul mate. She was mildly cute and you had a class together. THAT'S IT.

You haven't even begun the journey of life.
You don't understand the ways of the world.
You're nowhere close to the man you could be.
And let's face it, you're not exactly a heartthrob right now.
Cut yourself some slack - you have plenty of shots left to take, young king.

Young men have no regard for the future.
The arrogance of youth blinds you into thinking you'll live forever.
You leave today's problems for tomorrow.
You live the "YOLO" life, not understanding the fact that you live once is exactly why you should spend your time wisely.

You could be studying the world you live in...
Learning valuable skills...
Putting money away in sound investments to secure your financial future...
Instead:
You burn precious hours playing video games or partying.
You spend the little money you have on frivolous nonsense.

You disregard the warnings of your elders, men who have been where you are right now.
You think you know better than them.
You think you're clever enough to make up for decades of experience.
So in the end, you burn yourself and end up learning those same lessons the hard way.

Don't get me wrong:
You shouldn't be a monk.
It's okay to relax and socialize and have fun.
But never go too far in the other direction.
A youth spent on hedonistic consumerism will set you up for absolute HELL ON EARTH when you're a grown man.
Consider yourself warned.

Young men quit when it gets too hard.
Technology has conditioned you to get everything you want with the click of a button.
You're horribly impatient. You want everything right here, right now.
So any time you set your mind to a long-term pursuit, you struggle immensely.

I like to coin this phenomenon the "intermediate curse":
Most lifters quit when they hit a 2 plate bench.
Most BJJ students quit when they get their blue belt.
Most chess players quit when they hit a low 1000s rating.
As soon as progress starts slowing down, you peace out.

When you start learning a skill, everything is new and exciting.
Progress is visible and QUICK.
You get noticeably better every day.
But as you get better - as you become an intermediate - progress grinds to a halt.
You get discouraged, not realizing this is a good thing.

Progress slowing down should EXCITE you.
It means you're not a noob anymore.
You're finally at a level where you can start learning the interesting stuff.
Progress that used to take a month might take a year now. THATS OKAY.
Because if you're not in this for life, why bother?

Being a formidable fighter, or a master coder, or having a Herculean physique...
Not one of these things will come overnight.
They came from incremental, 1% progress every single session.
Being patient and disciplined.
Having eyes on the big picture and trusting the process.
