Don't let ChatGPT and Bing distract you from many other wonderful AI-powered apps.
Here's a FREE tool you can use to create summaries of journal articles — Casper:
Casper is a Chrome extension that you will need to add to your browser.
To do so, go to Chrome web store and look up Casper.
Then click on the "Add to Chrome" button.
Once you have added it to Chrome, click on the puzzle-like button in the top-right corner to see a list of all your extensions.
Find Casper and click on the "pin" next to it. This will pin Casper to your Chrome.
Now open a journal article you want to read. Then click on the Casper extension.
To suit your requirements, Casper will ask you who you are and what your purpose for reading the article is.
I went with "student" who's using Casper for "research and study."
Simply click on the "Summarize this page" to create a summary of the article.
Here I'm using one of my own articles and the summary Casper has given me is quite useful.
I could this summary if I were to teach this article in an undergraduate class.
You can ask Casper to give you "Insights" and it will give you a list of the article's main points.
You can also ask Casper to brainstorm ideas while reading.
To do so, click on the three horizontal dots next to the "Insights" button and select "Help me brainstorm."
If at any point you want to change the settings, click on the gear icon at the top of Casper and change your role and purpose for reading.
