The most obnoxious person is the one who tries to carry on a conversation at a level that is at odds with the context. It’s incredibly juvenile. If you’re so smart why can’t you have a conversation within the appropriate confines of the context?
I personally don’t think Hugh Grant was being rude but I also don’t think Ashley Graham is some dumb bimbo who should be chastised for not picking up on his high-brow references when she’s in the middle of doing her job.
This used to happen to me all the time when I bartended. Some guy would come in and try to hold a conversation that was at least 10 notches above what I was capable of processing in that context and then use it inflate his own ego that’s he’s “sooo smart” and I’m “soooo dumb”.
