sometimes people are like "i used to be a part of a sun-staring community and it was a great community but it burned out my retinas so now i'm looking for a new group of people to stare at a different sun at" and it's well-intentioned...
but the problem is that we're just not supposed to stare directly at suns
staring at a different sun will not change the problem
sunlight is to be appreciated and enjoyed indirectly

analogy falls apart a little bit because as earthlings we have only one sun and maybe on some planets in some galaxies its ok to look directly at some suns, idk, lol
but swap it out for anything where direct prolonged exposure to the thing is damaging

the problem was never the color of the hat
a few people have asked me recently how come I haven't done any formal push to 'establish a proper community' n basically it's roughly this... in my opinion, the easiest way to solve the sun-staring problem is to keep moving informally, nomadically, improvisationally, 'illegibly'
i'm not sure if i will do that indefinitely, but for the time being i am still building relationships with people who Get It and gently nudging away people who Don't Get It
you have to get the ratios right for things to work. and it's hard to get the ratios right. you can't just buy it with money. it takes time. it takes experience. it takes people who have known each other a long time + people who also have diverse/varied life experience
you cannot speedrun trust. you have to show up again for years while the world changes around you. i'm willing to wait another 2-3 cycles to see who's still around and then we'll build what we build in the 2-3 cycles after that
