i understand the appeal of management as a career now
coding and analyzing is fun but its even more fun if you just get to have opinions about the output without putting the work in to get the output

my ideal career involves me sitting in a room for eight hours a day. people come into the room and tell me about things and i tell them what i think of those things. we thank each other and exchange pleasantries, then they leave and more people come in

regrettably this is not really a viable career if you add the constraint of being accountable for the results of the ideas that you give people
the key, then, seems to be offering suggestions whose outcomes are unmeasurable

a major advantage i have against many would-be competitors is that i dont care whether people accept what i have to say
a lot of people get really bound up in that but im neutral. take it or not im getting paid the same either way yk, i get it, you really wanna do it your style

you know who pulled this off perfectly were the humans with freakish insight that the Culture Minds would consult with, sort of like how in the 80s and 90s cops would hire psychics to find missing kids
i bet i could provide value in conversation to an ai
