My previous giveaway got me:
🔸 48 "5-star" ratings
So I did a quick breakdown to:
🔸 Analyze WHAT worked for this giveaway
🔸 Share some KEY takeaways
If you want to MASTER giveaways, read this:
Before we begin, let’s address the elephant in the room.
Some of you might be wondering..
If my giveaway had 653 comments..
Why did I only send out 564 DMs?
Here’s why:
🔸 Troll comments → “You’re only 1,000 followers, so who cares?”
🔸 Commented Brew but did not follow
🔸 Comments that don’t show up
🔸 Duplicate comments
Now, sit back and relax.
We’ve got some data to break down.
Here is an overview of the 564 DMs I sent:
🔸 $101 in revenue
🔸 339 checkouts on the sales page
Of the 339 creators who checked out:
🔸 94 responded with a reaction
🔸 48 gave a “5-star” rating
🔸 46 replied in one way or another
🔸 14 gave a solid review
Now we’ve presented the data, let’s dive into the juicy bits!
#1 - One-of-a-kind valuable
This giveaway is one-of-a-kind.
You couldn’t:
🔸 Use ChatGPT to replicate the content inside
🔸 Find content inside this Playbook anywhere else
There are no barriers to entry.
I created a product in a segment with ZERO competition.
#2 - High performing tweet structure
It’s not magic that my giveaway got me:
🔸 95.6k impressions
Take a look at the structure I used. 👇
#3 - Always add an urgency statement
Why? Because not everyone you DM downloads the giveaway.
Despite sending an urgency statement..
Only 60% downloaded the file.
If you don’t add one, the results are gonna be WORSE.
#4 - Engagements aren’t everything
How do I know that?
35 individuals participated in both my first and second giveaways.
But 54% of them NEVER engaged with any of my tweets.
Yet, they know when I drop a huge value BREW.
— People are watching from the sides. 👀
#5 - Not reading till the end
11% replied “Brew” but did not follow me.
Why do you think this is so?
Because I left the words “must be following” on the last line.
Now you know, don’t do that.
#6 - Not worth a follow
After sending reminders, only 37% followed.
The rest decided following to get the giveaway was probably not worth it.
But that’s just silly.
Don’t like my content? Just unfollow after.
(You sneaky dudes have already started unfollowing 😏)
#7 - Ask and you shall receive
Over at both the “checkout” and “content” pages on Gumroad, I added a statement.
One requesting a 5-star rating.
But only if you enjoyed the product.
This works. But if it doesn’t, just accept that your product is garbage.
#8 - If it doesn’t hurt, don’t give it away
I literally spent 12 hours going through past tweets..
But breaking down my thought processes on crafting them.
I wanted to add this to my $99 course.
But in the end, I decided to give it away for FREE.
Hurts like F*CK.
#9 - Reply to replies
For every reply I get, I send a follow-up reply.
“Thank you, Shilpa! Was this helpful for you? I'd love to hear your feedback! Cheers! 🥳”
It doesn’t matter whether it’s good or bad feedback.
Good? You take that as a win.
Bad? You learn from it.
#10 - Not your target audience
Not a surprise that my giveaway reached out to plenty of people who weren’t my target audience.
“Friends”:
🔸 Without PFP (some even with troll faces).
🔸 Who tweets in gibberish.
🔸 With banners of random places.
Expect that A LOT.
#11 - Unexpected donations
It’s a huge encouragement to me when people donate..
Even if it’s just $1.
Why?
Because I know they’ll use the product since they’ve paid for it.
But you know what’s even crazier?
Someone I’ve never known donated $49.
Thank you for reading. 📖
