People linked to Netaji in any which way, INA veterans, journalists, historians included, were subjected to surveillance in free India by sleuths looking for intelligence about "dead" Subhas Bose. Intelligence was shared with former masters in London as well.

Snooping was brought to light by @chandrachurg and me. Bose kin made most of it as media spotlight fell on them. These kin later dropped the demand for an inquiry because they feared it would lead to the Gumnami Baba issue that they did not want discussed. 3/
BJP Govt didn't allow inquiry becoz they didn't want any fallout touching upon sensitive matters relating to transfer of power, Brand Gandhi (in which they have invested a lot), functioning of intell agencies, etc. So, Netaji snooping issue died in 2015. Gandhi bhakts won. 4/
Suppose the story was not about Netaji. Suppose it were about some thug or terrorist and suppose it emerged in media that the kin of that thug/terrorist were subjected to snooping across states, hell would have broken lose in the country and Govt forced to explain their stand. 5/
