So... late last night, a friend called me in tears
She just lost her copywriting job at a 1000+ person company
The culprit? ChatGPT.
This is a wakeup call to lawyers, accountants, consultants etc (read this to stay ahead):

She had pretty perfect performance reviews
"You're A+" her boss told her
Graduated Brown, one of the best writing schools in the world
But, the company is cutting costs. And they axed 85% of their writing team.
They kept 15% to edit the output of AI tools like ChatGPT

I shared with her a framework to help us all navigate this wild new world. I call it the 3Rs:
1. Reinvent
2. Redirect
3. Rejoice

1. Reinvent: Time for a career makeover
You heard it. It's time to spruce up your skills and make them AI-proof
Find your niche, something that AI can't replicate. Maybe it's empathy, creativity, or an uncanny ability to read people
Whatever it is, polish it and make it shine

2. Redirect: Steer your career in a new direction
The job market is shifting, and so should you
It's time to explore new opportunities, ones that can withstand the AI invasion
Jobs that require a human touch or complex decisions
Redirect your focus and ride the wave of change

3. Rejoice: Embrace the AI allies
Now, you might be thinking, "Rejoice? Seriously?"
But hear me out. AI is here to stay, and it's transforming the way we work.
Instead of fighting it, let's collaborate with it.
Embrace the tech, and use it to amplify your skills.

So, I told my friend, not to lose faith and gave her a few ideas to think about to do next that i'll share here
It's an extra-hard time to be looking for a job during a recession so I gave her some solopreneur-type ideas too:

1. AI-Assisted SEO Content Creation
As SEO gets reinvented, a whole new breed of winners will emerge
Use AI to supercharge your content creation by tapping into AI-powered SEO tools
Identify trending topics using AI and optimize your content and become a solopreneur

Using her incredible writing skills, she'd be able to stand out by managing ChatGPT and these SEO tools
I told her to follow @boringmarketer to understand this whole new world of SEO and AI
It's a must follow

2. AI-Driven Market Research & Community Building
Harness the power of AI to scan problems and solutions across platforms like subreddits and other online communities. Identify winning audiences, and create tailored communities that cater to their needs

With AI by her side, she can become a master community builder and provide people with the connections they crave
She could monetize by paid communities or selling merch or selling ads in a newsletter

3. Transition to an AI strategist role
Once she's learned the AI tools, she can help other companies automate their writing capabilities using AI
She is currently getting paid $65,000/year. Probably could get 2x that in an AI role

To summarize:
Last night it really hit me that millions of people might lose their jobs
But now's a really incredible time to be learning, playing, experimenting with new AI tools and being optimistic
