[THREAD] The connection of Imazighen to the paleolithic people of Northwest Africa and their connection to E-M81 ๐Ÿงต
I have seen an influx of Arabists lately try to claim that E-M81 is Near Eastern in origin and that Iberomaurusians (paleolithic Northwest African people) are as well. I don't get these pathetic attempts, but I will dispel them anyway.
The points I summarized in these two pictures with sources listed at the bottom of them.
1. Early Neolithic samples in Morocco (also known as IAM or Ifri N'Amr Ou Moussa) were found on the ancestral haplogroup of E-M81: E-L19. One sample had a positive snp for E-M81 showing its direct connection to E-M81. They were shown to be ancestral to Mozabites and Moroccans.
2. The early Neolithic samples were shown to be genetically Iberomaurusian (paleolithic Northwest African), showing continuity in Northwest Africa. Their genetic footprint was found in ancient Guanches and Moroccans.
3. Iberomaurusians DID NOT descend from Natufians and a subsaharan African mix as the Loosdrecht study claimed that people often like to cite as this was directly critiqued here by Lazaridis. Rather, it was the other way around and again confirmed in his 2022 paper.
(Don't cry that the left one is a pre-print when it was even cited in his 2022 study and that the 2022 study itself confirms it.)
4. Ancient Guanches were found to be on the haplogroup E-M81 (E-M183). With the oldest remains found among them being from around 621 AD.
5. A Numidian sample found dated between 81-210 AD was found on haplogroup E-M81.
6. The modern distribution of E-M81 is linked with Imazighen. Arabists like to cite this paper to "prove" E-M81 is Near Eastern in origin while they completely ignore what the paper actually says. It is Northwest African in origin with frequencies found at 71%.
And as stated before it is linked to Imazighen.
Some of them like to cry that the Taforalt (Iberomaurusian) samples were only found on the E-M78 haplogroup. The IAM samples show that Iberomaurusians were not limited to one haplogroup. So, that argument is meaningless. Beyond reasonable doubt, E-M81 is Amazigh.
