Here's how to effectively overcome this feeling :
These feelings are not based on reality. They are based on false beliefs that we have internalized from our experiences or from society.
We are all valuable and precious. Allah says in the Quran: "We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference." (17:70)
We're not burdens, but blessings. We're meant to support and help eachother. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "The believers are like one body; if one part of it suffers, the whole body responds with fever and sleeplessness." (Muslim)
So, we shouldn't feel ashamed or guilty for reaching out to others when we need them. Rather, we should feel like we are giving them an opportunity to earn rewards from Allah (SWT) and to show their love and compassion.
Of course, this does not mean that we should be dependent on others or neglect our own responsibilities. It also does not mean that we should ignore the boundaries and needs of others. It means that we should balance our independence and interdependence in a healthy way.
How can we do that? Here are some tips:
Whenever you feel like a burden, ask yourself: Is this true? Is this helpful? Is this kind? Replace your negative thoughts with positive affirmations, such as: I am worthy of love and respect. I am not a burden but a blessing. I have something valuable to offer.
Practice gratitude. Express your appreciation to Allah (SWT) for all the blessings He has given you in your life. Express your appreciation to the people who have helped you or supported you in any way. Write down three things you are grateful for every day.
Seek spiritual help. Pray to Allah (SWT) and ask Him for guidance, forgiveness, and peace. Read the Quran and reflect on its meanings and messages. Listen to lectures or podcasts by Islamic scholars who can inspire you and increase your faith.
Practice self-care. Take care of your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, relax, have fun, learn new skills, pursue your hobbies, etc.
Remember that feeling like a burden is not a sign of weakness or lack of faith. It is a sign that you need some help and healing. And Allah is the best of healers ❤
