This has been one long rainy stretch for NYC! Almost Bombay monsoon style continuous 3-4 days of rain. But chilly, not the nice Bombay rain temperature.
Well, at least there won't be a drought this year. All water bodies in the area are gushing and groundwater is high.
Historically, rain systems in this area don't last more than 24-36 hours. NYC gets a lot of rainy days in the year (more than Seattle), but generally they are spaced out.
This long rainy stretch is rare. You can sense rain fatigue in people's body language. And on UberEATS.
I got an "Ooops no delivery drivers available" message in the evening for about half an hour, which you don't get in NYC even in the middle of the night. Restaurant weekend business must have been lean.
And it's not ending anytime soon. Look at this Doppler! 😳
There's going to be tornadoes tonight well north of where you would expect.
There was a big one in Virginia already.
But I won't be surprised if we are woken up by phones blaring with tornado alert for NYC in the middle of the night.
