7 important lessons we can learn from this chart:
πŸ“Š 17% of your life is spent working.
If you hate your job.
Start working on an escape plan.
You don't have to quit, but try putting 30-60 minutes per day into a side project (maybe some of that TV time).
πŸ“Š 33% of your life is spent sleeping.
I talk about this a lot.
But fixing my sleep is one of the best things I've ever done.
Sleep impacts EVERY aspect of your life.
If you drink caffeine all day and take your phone to bed, don't be surprised that your sleep quality is shit.
Here are the 5 best tips I can give in regard to sleep:
1. No screens in bed
2. Use body scan meditation
2. Keep your room cold, dark, and quiet
3. Invest in a quality mattress and pillow
4. No caffeine after 12pm, no food 2 hours before bed
πŸ“Š Romance (1.4%) and Socializing (1.3%) are painfully low.
According to the longest study of happiness in human history.
The #1 key to a good life is relationships.
Make an effort to spend as much time as you can with friends and people you love.
πŸ“Š Healthy screen time habits can free up massive amounts of time.
TV (11.6%) + Phone time (16.2)% = 27.8%
A quarter of your life.
Spent staring at a screen.
Imagine taking just 1% of that time and applying it to a new skill, or time with friends, or a side-hustle.
πŸ“Š Exercise makes up less than 1% of our time.
That's less than 10 minutes per day.
Exercise is one of the highest ROI habits you can do.
Committing to even 30 minutes per day will make a massive difference in your life.
πŸ“Š What you do every day forms your life
Life is not a series of big decisions.
But rather an accumulation of the small decisions you make every day.
You ARE your daily habits.
Choose them wisely.
πŸ“Š Time is precious
Sleeping (32.9%)
Working (16.7%)
Duties (5.9%)
Eating (4.6%)
School (2%)
Commuting (1.3%)
---------------
63.4% of 'non-negotiable' time.
That leaves you with about 37%.
Put it to good use.
I realize that these are averages from developed countries.
I understand that they're not perfect representations of people's lives.
No stats like this will ever be perfect.
These are simply the lessons that stood out to me.
