How I transformed a leader from an over-worked zombie to a hands-off 7 figure business:
Here are the 3 simple steps that changed his life...
Hey Boss,
Welcome back.
Today I want to talk to you about a client who:
1. Hasn't vacationed since 2019
2. Worked 15-20hr days
3. Was owner-centric
There was no way he could keep up this unhealthy pace.
Just listening to his problems raised my blood pressure.
Now I didn't want this man to work himself to an early grave.
As a result, we wasted no time investing in his transformation.
After 6 months of coaching, he was able to:
- Cut his workday in half.
- Delegate work in confidence
- Take a trip to Jamaica for a month.
Ya Mon!
AND!
At the same time, his earnings and personnel grew more than 50%.
How, you ask?
As the late and great Bob Marley once said:
"Don't worry about a thing / Cause every little thing gonna be all right."🎶
But how did he arrive at this worry-free environment?
Let's dig in...
1. Recruiting Talent
Most "leaders" expect skilled staff to fall into their lap and immediately understand the business.
Hiring this way is like signing a new quarterback and expecting them to perform without the playbook.
So, we had to fix his scouting approach...
We did this by adjusting his:
1. Role Requirements
2. Recruitment process
3. Onboarding & Training
Specifically,
✔️ We determined his business's needs
✔️ We actively searched for talent
✔️ Our onboarding and training process remained flexible based on the employees' needs.
2. Delegation and Systemizing
Now that he had some all-stars on his team it was time to "let go".
And I don't say this lightly when I basically had to wrestle control away from him.
This stubborn guy had a relentless guillotine choke on his business and refused to ease off.
As a result, I had to approach this subject with extreme caution
We began by reviewing his workload to determine:
- His daily tasks
- Lower-priority tasks
- Time-consuming tasks
Then we made a deal to delegate 1-2 lower priority ones per week.
And review the results...
To his amazement, the business was still running optimally after a month.
Delegating became a breeze and I could tell he was getting excited!
I used this momentum to turn to task and project management tools.
I introduced him to
1. Notion
2. Trello
To start.
The power of these tools blew his mind and cut his work in 1/2.
Once he had the tools humming, we went to work on his role...
Here we transformed him from a front-line mindset to a leadership one.
By focusing on the:
1. Internal processes and procedures
2. Tools and resources the team needed to be successful.
By this time, he had eased his chokehold and let his team go to work.
3. Trust The Team
The last transformation was believing in the talent he hired.
This required a growth mindset.
To get there we drilled home these points:
1. "Fail Forward" mentality
2. Setting realistic, but challenging goals
3. Not directly fixing his team's mistakes.
Here he began solving the team's pain points rather than the clients.
And did this, while refraining from doing the team's job for them.
This allowed his team to learn from their mistakes and develop over time.
Straightaway his agency picked up speed while allowing his team to execute and bring the vision to life.
Now he is packing his bags for a well-earned month off.
And he is pumped to turn his phone off while leaving the agency in the hands of the team he built.
Summary:
Run your business.
Don't let your business run you.
Remember to follow these steps:
1. Recruiting Talent
2. Delegation and Systemizing
3. Trust the team
And you too can visit the home of Bob Marley.
