The alchemical process (Magnum opus) must happen within you, either consciously or unconsciously.
Being aware of it can speed up the process.
It consists of three phases:

Putrefaction of the personality.
Our personality is made up of mechanical habits (as Gurdjieff called them).
It must be incinerated, and those crystallized parts of ourselves must be disintegrated.
This process is also called 'Dissociation of mixtures':

In Inner Alchemy, the mixtures refer to our psychological aggregates, our various 'I's, the roles we play:
- the emotional 'I'
- the insecure 'I'
- the arrogant 'I'
- etc.

All these aspects form our false Ego.
They need to be consciously observed, analyzed, and dissociated.
Through non-judgmental self-observation, the aspiring Alchemist realizes that he does not possess a central 'Self'.

It is a dangerous phase:
I risk going insane if I disintegrate the personality without creating something new.
My false Ego (as mechanical as it may be) has allowed me to interact with the world up to that point.

If I destroy it through observation (alchemical fire), I must necessarily create a new higher 'self'.

The average human being is comparable to a house without a Owner.
A house with many servants, but no steward to manage them.
Each servant performs a role that is not their own: the cook cleans, the gardener manages the accounts, the caretaker cooks... it is total chaos.

At some point, the servants realize the situation and decide to elect a steward:

The SECRET of the alchemists is self-remembering.
We can accelerate the alchemical process of building the Soul through self-remembering, which is the ability to remain fully present in the Now while performing daily tasks.

I'm focused on both within (my essence) and outside of me (the action I am performing).
Self-remembering requires effort, it is never mechanical.
It allows me to accumulate energy even in situations where I would normally lose it (i.e. while watching TV).

This energy allows you to fabricate your subtle bodies (astral, mental, and emotional) and ultimately the 'body' of the Soul (body of Glory).

It is the fundamental phase in which the body of the Soul (body of Glory) is built.
In this phase, the transmutation of negative emotions takes place.
It is the phase in which plumb (lower emotions) is transformed into gold (higher emotions).

For example, I feel jealousy. I am suffering and blaming an external entity, my partner.

It is the final phase of the spiritualization of matter.
The Alchemist disappears.
The sensation of being separate from the rest of the Universe no longer exists.
The body of Glory is destroyed.
The purified personality becomes a direct channel for the Spirit.
