5 types of brain wavelengths and what they represent:
ALPHA waves reflect a bridge between the conscious and subconscious.
They're the normal rhythm you see in most relaxed adults, and they promote mental resourcefulness, coordination, and an overall sense of relaxed alertness.
BETA waves are fast and have a broad range that reflects different moods.
They're regarded as the dominant rhythm in those that are alert or anxious but also reflect states of analytic problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and processing information.
DELTA waves are the slowest recorded brain waves in humans.
They occur most often in infants and young children, and they're associated with deep levels of relaxation and restorative sleep.
THETA waves reflect the state between wakefulness and sleep.
They relate most to the activity of the subconscious mind, and they're strong during periods of internal focus, meditation, prayer, and spiritual awareness.
GAMMA waves are rarely achieved and reflect a state of high-level integrated information processing.
In other words, they're associated with the state of simultaneously processing information across different areas of the brain.
The easiest way to reset your brain wavelengths?
Spending undistracted time in nature.
In fact:
One study found that after 3 days in nature β†’ the brain waves of hikers switched from neurotic beta waves to reflective "flow-state" alpha and theta brain waves.
