🤍Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah🤍
Imam Ibn Rajab Al Hanbali lists the titles after naming Ibn Taymiyyah by his full name:
"Imam al-Faqih, The mujtahid, The muḥaddith, The ḥāfiẓ, The mufassir, the one upon theʾuṣūl, (the) ascetic (zuhd), Taqī al-Dīn ʾAbū al-ʿAbbās, Shaykh al-Islām".
Hafidh As-Suyuti said:
Ibn Taymiyah, the Shaykh, the imam, the ‘allaamah, the hafiz, the critic, the faqih, the mujtahid, the brilliant mufassir, the Shaykh of Islam, the leader of ascetics, the unrivalled in his time,
Taqiy al-Din Abu’l-Abbas Ahmad al-Mufti Shihab al-Din ‘Abd al-Halim, the son of the imam and mujtahid Shaykh al-Islam Majd al-Deen ‘Abd al-Salam ibn ‘Abd-Allah ibn Abi’l-Qasim al-Haraani.
One of the prominent figures, he was born in Rabi’ al-Awwal 661 AH, and he learned from
Ibn Abi’l-Yasar, Ibn ‘Abd al-Daa’im, and some others.
He took an interest in hadith, and narrated and selected(sound ahadith); he excelled in the study of narrators’ biographies, defects in ahadith, fiqh, the sciences of Islam, ‘ilm al-kalam and other fields.
He was a man of vast learning, one of the few brilliant scholars, ascetics and unique individuals. He wrote three hundred books, and he was tested and persecuted many times.
(Tabaqaat al-Huffaaz).
Imam Adh-Dhahabi said:
He is our Shaykh, the Shaykh of Islam, unrivalled in our time in terms of knowledge, courage, intelligence, spiritual enlightenment, generosity, sincerity towards the ummah, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, and learning hadith ,
he put a great deal of effort into seeking it and writing it down, and he examined the different categories of narrators and acquired knowledge that no one else acquired.
His good qualities are many, and he is too great for a man like me to talk about his life.
If I were to swear an oath between the Corner and the Maqam I would swear that I have never seen anyone like him and that he has never seen anyone like himself.
(Dhayl Tabaqat)
Imam Imad al-Din al-Waasiti said:
By Allah, there was never seen under the canopy of heaven anyone like your Shaykh Ibn Taymiyah in knowledge, righteous deeds, attitude, manner, adherence to the Sunnah, generosity, forbearance and carrying out duties to Allah when His
sacred limits were transgressed; he was the most sincere of people, the most sound in knowledge, the most effective, the most serious in supporting the truth, the most generous, the most perfect in following the Sunnah of Muhammad. We have never
seen anyone in our own time who demonstrates the example of the Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah's in word and deed like this man; a sound heart will bear witness that this is following the Sunnah in the true sense of the word.
(Al-‘Uqud)
Imam Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani said:
"The rank of Al-Shaykh Taqi al-Din ibn Taymiyyah as an Imam is brighter than the sun, and his title as 'Shaykh al-Islam' has lasted until now and will continue henceforth; no one denies this except one who is ignorant and unjust."
Al-Hariri the Grand Ḥanafī judge said:
If Ibn Taymiyyah is not Shaykh al-Islām, then who is!?
Al-Tafhanī, qāḍī al-quḍāt, the Ḥanafī judge said:
"He was a scholar of expertise who departed from this world, (and) he was able to establish ʾadilla against his opponents,
(he) preserved the sunnah, (he) knew its methodologies, (he) knew the asl, the uṣūl of the dīn and uṣūl al-fiqh".
Kamal al dīn al - ansari, the Shāfiʿī judge, said:
And the fuqaha of all maḏāhib, if they sat with him, benefitted from him in their respective maḏhab
He continued:
And he wouldn't speak about the sciences of the Sharia,or any other, unless he met the condition of ijtihād.
Ibn Daqiq al 'Id:
"When I met Ibn Taymiyyah,I saw a man of all sciences between his eyes"
"By Allah I did not think that there remained the likes of you''
And it was said that Hafidh al-Mizzī would not use the title Shaykh al-Islām except for his father, Taqī al-Dīn Aḥmad Ibn Taymiyyah and Shams al-dīn al-Ḥanbalī.
Hafidh Al Mizzi used to praise the Shaykh (Ibn Taymiyyah) much to the extent that he would say: "No one like him has been seen since 400 years before him".
Imam Ibn ʿAbd al-Hādī:
"He is the Shaykh, Imām al-Rabbani, Imām of the ʾaʾimma, baḥr al-ʿulūm, master of preservation, the "keeper" of the meanings and expressions"
Ibn Abdul Hadi claims Ibn Taymiyyah was the Qutub of his time, he says:
“It would not be befitting, that there be a Qutub other than him (Ibn Taymiyyah)”
Ibn Abdul Hadi confirms Qutubiyyah for Ibn Taymiyyah in other lines of poetry throughout his book (Al Uqud):
“He was a Qutub, scholar, and Imam”
“He has become an example for mankind in our times, for he is the single Qutub”
“Who other than him is the Qutub of the universe, It is he who attained the station of the Abdal”
“He is the scholar and Qutub whos news have spread”
“Oh Taqi-Ud-Deen (Ibn Taymiyyah), the Fard of his time”
“He is Qutub Az-Zaman and the crown of all people”
“He is the Qutub of all realities; the people of tasawwuf and spiritual training are amazed by him”
As-Suyuti says:
"I have quoted this biography (of Ibn Taymiyyah) from the handwriting of the Allamah, the unique individual of his time, Shaykh Kamal ad-Din az-Zamlakani, who used to say, 'one who had more memorised than him has not been seen in the last five hundred years.'
Imam Adh Dahabi said:
A Hadith Which Shaykh Al Islam does not know is not a Hadith.
Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Barr as-Subki said, "By Allah no one hates Ibn Taymiyyah except for an ignoramus.
or the possessor of desires which have diverted him from the truth after he has come to know it."
('Radd al-Wafir)
Mullah 'Ali al-Qari said, "It will become clear to the one who studies 'Madarij as-Salikin' of Ibn al-Qayyim that these two Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim are from the greatest of Ahlus-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah, and from the Awliya of this nation." ('Mirqat al-Mafatih').
Al-Hafidh Al-Mizzi said, "I have not seen the likes of him, and his own eye had not seen the likes of himself. And I have not seen one who was more knowledgeable than him of the Book and the Sunnah of His Messenger, nor one who followed them more closely."
Al-Hafidh Al-Bazzar said, depicting the opponents of Ibn Taymiyyah, "You would not see a scholar opposing him (Ibn Taymiyyah), dissuading fromhim, filled with hatred for him, except that he was the most greedyof them in gathering the worldly goods, the most cunning of them in
acquiring them, the most ostentatious of them, the most desirous for reputation.and the most prolific of them in having lies on his tongue."
Taqi Ud Din As-Subki said:
"As for what you say with regard to Ash-Shaykh Taqi ad-Din, then
I am convinced of the great scope, the ocean-like fullness and vastness of his knowledge of the transmitted and intellectual sciences, his extreme intelligence, his ijtihad and his attainments in that which surpass description.
And I have always held to this opinion. Personally, his status in my eyes is greater and more esteemed, for the asceticism, piety, religiosity, his helping the truth and standing firm on it for the sake of Allah alone,
his adherence to the path of the salaf and his abundant taking from it, and his strangeness in this time, nay any time."
('Ad-Durar al-Kamina' of Ibn Hajar)
The Imam of the Hanafis, Badr ad-Din al-'Ayni said:
"Whosoever says Ibn Taymiyyah is a kafir then he is in reality himself a kafir, and the one who accuses him of heresy is himself a heretic.
How is this possible when his works are widely available and there is no hint of deviation or dissension contained therein."
['Radd al-Wafir' (p. 245)]

The Praises of Shaykh Al Islam are uncountable and nobody would be able to list all of his praises but i conclude with the statement of Imam Ibn Al Qayyim who said Regardind Shaykh Al Islam:
Our Shaykh (Ibn Taymiyyah) is higher for my speech to give him justice, My Words cannot really describe this man or even my pen to describe who or what type of person Shaykh Al Islam really was.
May Allah Have Mercy Upon Shaykh Al Islam.
