Shaykh Al Munawi Refutes Qadhi Al Baydawi about building a mosque near the grave of the righteous person.
Let's look at what Qadhi Al Baydawi said.
Qadhi Al Baydawi's statement is mentioned in Fath Al Bari by Hafidh Ibn Hajar Asqalani RA vol 1 page 525 and Kitab Faydh Al Qadir by Shaykh Al Munawi Volume 4 Page 466
Qadhi Al Baydawi said:
''As the Jews and Christians used to prostrate themselves before the graves .... 1/3
of the prophets venerating them and performing prayers in the direction of these graves, they have made these graves as idols, so they were cursed. Muslims were forbidden to do the same.โ€™ As for, โ€˜When one builds a mosque near the grave of a righteous man and intends to... 2/3
take blessing near him WITHOUT revering him or paying attention or the like, then this prohibition is not included in it.'' 3/3
NOTE:
There is no shirk in above quote rather he is just saying praying in mosque near the grave of a righteous is allowed WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION and VENERATING HIM. He is not saying it is allowed to ask help from the grave or the righteous person...
As for his saying that โ€œIt is allowed to build a mosque near the grave of righteous without venerating himโ€?
That's where the big question Mark starts.
Here is where Shaykh Al Munawi Refutes Qadhi Al Baydawi about (โ€œIt is allowed to build a mosque near the grave of righteous without venerating himโ€)
Shaykh Al Munawi said:
''But the hadith of Shaykhayn (Bukhari and Muslim) has general karaha (dislike) of making Masajid over...
graves, MEANING THE GRAVES OF MUSLIMS, due to the fear of worshipping the graves. As it is mentioned in the hadith โ€œโ€O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped.''
Very soon Insha Allah, i will also mention what ู…ุญู…ุฏ ุจู† ุงุณู…ุงุนูŠู„ ุงู„ูƒุญู„ุงู†ูŠ said about the statement of Qadhi Al Baydawi.
