3/ The term multipolar is used in three diverse ways: expression of political opposition to the West; description of the global distribution of power; and a strategy to reduce the dangers of a unipolar world or region.
4/ India's strategy evolved from hedging against the US unipolar moment in 1990s to balancing against the growing China threat in recent years in partnership with the US. India's priority now is to prevent the emergence of a Sino-centric, unipolar Asia.
