Important: Your feelings are not what should determine your facts. Just because you "feel" something is true doesn't make it true. This runs counter to every instinct we have, but sorry, them's the facts. Reality is not determined by emotions that change every few minutes.
Almost every "fact" of the culture wars we are engaged in, from both ends, are determined entirely by feelings which come out of our morals, education, religion and, most importantly, our community. These feelings of what "ought to be" are not facts. They are just attitudes.
Both sides will then use some facts to justify or argue for their feelings. They will also blatantly and boldly ignore a heap of other facts which don't help prove their feelings are true. This is confirmation bias and every single human being engages in it, even you.
If you are someone who actually values facts and thinks they are important, the next time you start arguing passionately for why something is true, be honest with yourself about whether or not you're engaging with ALL the facts. You're probably not. Most people don't, even you.
