"OMG How could they be removing periodic table" - has been the common response to this article.
I spent 10 mins in looking under the hood. And the reality is sorta different. If you're apolitical and care about future of kids in India - read on.

First things first.
What was the motivation for changes? Here is an excerpt from Class 10 Science book (updated).
These 3 highlighted points seem pretty rationale to an unbiased mind. The other 2 are more open to interpretation.

I first downloaded the free pdf book offered by NCERT for Class 10. Here is the index.
Seems fairly technical chapters on Chemistry.
Admittedly, there is no Periodic Table in those chapters. Neither is introduction to elements or atomic weights or atomic numbers.

"Similar content included in the lower or higher class of the same subject" - was one of the reasons for rationalization of texts.
So, I searched for Class 9 Science Book. Here is the content/index.

Btw - this is how a Periodic Table looks like. Like many others of my generation, I too had crammed this up during my high school.
What for?
Obviously to answer dumbfuck questions such as
"write down atomic number of X element"

I leave it upon reader to form an opinion on how important is this in current age and time of information, and if the content in Science text books is indeed going backward.
It took me 10 mins to challenge a core "click baity" headline of the article. Another hour and..

I could've challenged other claims of the article too.
I want to highlight how even the most learned and respected individuals around you are also humans, carrying their own biases.
Do your own research before letting their view color yours.
