Key talking Points of the Thread

1. Finishing
2. Ball Carrying
3. Physicality
4. Movement
5. Defensive Contribution
Hojlund is a really good finisher. He has a very good array of finishes in his locker with the ability to score from distance, tight angles and within the penalty box. He strikes the ball cleanly, has fantastic power & his accuracy is clinical. Placement & power. Good stats too
His ball striking allows him to score from distance, the speed he generates on the ball is frightening. For someone of his size his technical ability is insane, takes short touches to quickly move the ball, generating space before a short back lift, powering the ball goal wards
Shows both sides of his game beautifully here. You look at him and think of power/aggression. He shows that by bullying the CB, breezing past him. But at 20 years old still has the composure to deftly flick the ball over the GK. His shot type selection is very impressive already
He loves to pull off the CB, entering the channel between the CB and FB. He likes to pull into the left channel, allowing the left footed finish across goal which is his most used finish. I have noticed he likes to lift the ball, it's related to the power generated from striking
'I want a Striker who wants to break their nose or toes to score' - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

That's Hojlund. He has said before his role model is Cristiano Ronaldo,  Hojlund said, “I just like his mentality, and I love that he’s so eager to score a goal.' Desire to score is key
His movement is super, when the ball goes wide Hojlund makes a run across goal but doesn't get the ball. He checks his run, before adjusting his body to make a run to the back post, This means he's out of the eye line of the CB. Finally, makes a burst across goal to score
Hojlund is a fantastic carrier of the ball. He is comfortable receiving with his back to goal, pulling defenders in tight before spinning away with PnP. He also has the ability to slow play down before a burst of acceleration to push past opponents. Really good ball carrier
In his Sturm Graz days he was an outlet for them on the counter attack. His pace was the obvious asset however his size/physical properties allowed him to ride tackles comfortably without losing his stride. Shows fantastic speed here, the finish at the end is incredible
I will come onto his movement but he receives the ball in wide areas a lot, making channel runs. He can take small slow touches, slowing the game down, inviting the defender to dive in before flicking the ball past them to beat them 1v1. Averages 1.49 carries into the box p90
He loves to make runs from a central zone out to the left area. I think it would work terrifically at United with the midfield runners into the vacated space plus Rashford tucking inside to move into the gap left by the CB moving out. In these 1v1 duels, he’s very hard to stop
He ranks in the 86th percentile for shot creating actions via take on's. He has played in a front two at times with Zapata, hes often been able to drift into wide areas & cross into him but the main creativity is from midfield runners or the wingers inverting to finish chances
He is quite mature in his game already. He is very involved in play, ranking quite highly for touches in advanced areas. I think that may reduce at United as he'll become a finisher more than a creator. He also ranks highly for SCA, in the 78th percentile. Very impressive
His awareness is absolutely fantastic. He uses his stature so intelligently, gets his body between the defender and the ball, buying himself time to choose a pass. The execution of this pass is exquisite however the vision to even see it is superb
Hojlund is a really aggressive runner with the ball but also off the ball. His pressing is quite raw, runs very hard and often rather than precise calculated pressing. I think it will improve even further under Ten Hag, with some positional improvements and pressing understanding
People associate big strikers with clunky touches and poor technique, that's not Hojlund. He has a great ability to manipulate space in the box, taking plenty of touches to work the ball into space before striking with a short back lift but impressive power. Vital vs low blocks
At only 20 yrs old Hojlund has so much potential & time to improve. I can see Hojlund and Rashford rotating regulary in the 9 spot, taking pressure off Hojlund to not be the main goalscorer. Long term however, Hojlund will be a world class 9, hes capable of 15 PL goals next year
With a rumoured price of around £45m I think thats a very fair price. You are paying for his long term development as well as his current ability. The CF market is highly inflated with most good targets costing £80m+. Spending on Hojlund also allows extra room in the budget
