Raising children these days is a tough struggle between parents and the shaytan. You pull, and the shaytan pulls harder and you'll honestly need more strength to defeat the shaytan.
I found 3 dua made by prophet Ibrahim AS to be very helpful in this fight against the shaytan.
As well as the dua made by Zakariya A.S. and the intention of the mother of Maryam A.S. for having children.
1. Having a child or having children sincerely for this sake of Allah. What this means is, that you have in your heart the intention that they'd be devoted to the worship of Allah alone. From the examples in the Quran, this is a request that is never rejected, and Allah guards
and guides the child/children conceived with the intentions of worshiping Him alone.
2. Dua
Usually, the dua is made in line with your intention for having children. Ibrahim A.S made a dua;
Quran 37:100
"My Lord, grant me [a child] from
among the righteous."
He, Alayhi salam made another dua;
Quran 14:35
"and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols."
Idols in this era takes many forms. Fashion, sports, movies, etc.
He, Alayhi salam, made another dua:
Quran 14:40
"My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication."
We know that Salah when done right, including purification, i.e. wudu and ghusl, is as Allah the exhaled said in the Quran:
Quran 29:45
"...and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits
immorality and wrongdoing"
Zakariya A.S when making dua, after his explanation to his Lord, said:
Quran 19:6
"And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]."
Allah answered and Allah gave him as son about whom Allah said:
Quran 19:12-14
"And We gave
him judgement [while yet] a boy, and affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah. And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant."
Sisters, the key is sincerity in our intention towards having children, and dua. Right within the two, efforts! We see that in the people before us who made these prayers. We can't live a certain way and raise righteous children. We need to be better for the sake of Allah.
